Set against a background of civil unrest and political uncertainty, Julius Caesar showcases a republic and its leaders battling the public and private perils that come with power. By deconstructing the plot and taking the events out of sequence, this version documents more closely how a society behaves when asked to define and defend the conflicting ideas of freedom and democracy.
