The Lifeguard Project brings to you a community gathering film showing of Part of Water in conjunction with the Ben Carlson Foundation.
Part of Water brings the real world of ocean lifeguarding into sharp focus far beyond the “Baywatch” stereotype. This feature-length documentary tells the tragic story of Ben Carlson, an experienced Newport Beach lifeguard who lost his life during a rescue in a massive swell in July 2014. Through Ben’s legacy, the film honors the courage, professionalism, and daily risk carried by lifeguards who protect our coastlines and communities.
Presented in conjunction with the Responder Round-Up, this special community screening invites audiences to convene with the lifesaving professionals and partners after their training, as this film screening expands that mission to the broader community through storytelling, reflection, and gratitude.
Join us at the Performing Arts Center San Luis Obispo for an impactful evening of film and community, an opportunity to support and appreciate the responders who put their lives on the line to keep our beaches safe.

This film showing is presented in conjuction with The Lifeguard Project's Responder Round-Up Event, the first-ever interagency training event uniting first responders and lifeguards from around the country for comprehensive high-fidelity drowning and airway management simulations to collaboratively enhance drowning response.
